everyday mum that lifts...
also known as
I am a Geordie 44 year old every day Mum of two girls age 12 and 10 living in Gullane, Scotland. I'm lucky enough to live near the beach which to me is one of my happy places.
I have been passionate about sport and health all my life having enjoyed competitive sports like hockey & tennis, I enjoy running, fitness in general and I regularly lift weights. I'm also a kids hockey coach at Gullane hockey club which gives me a huge amount of personal satisfaction and enjoyment.
In the last two years I competed in two bikini fitness competitions in the masters category (for the more mature lady...) which was a huge personal challenge and really pushed me out of my comfort zone. I live in gym gear or jeans so to get up on stage tanned, in a bikini, with heels & make up was way out of my ordinary and caused much amusement amongst my mates.
However the upside was I learnt how to manage my food and drink intake to get the best results for showcasing my shape which was fascinating. I did get bikini/stage ready and even came 2nd in the Scottish champs so it definitely worked.
Prior to the first competition in order to put myself out there and grow in confidence with the sport, I set up an Instagram account called 'everydaymumthatlifts' where I charted my journey from gym to the stage. This account grew and evolved into my 'healthyhabits.life' account where I share healthy habits motivation and follow other people that inspire and motivate me.
As a result of all the above I started being asked for advice with eating healthily, how to lose weight, how to eat better etc and ended up helping out family, friends, friends of friends and this is where the healthy habits plan was born! I get immense pleasure from helping someone make changes, supporting them and helping them finally achieve the results they want.
I may do loads of fitness stuff because I really enjoy it but equally I'm not super woman and yup I totally get it when it comes to juggling all aspects of the crazy lives we lead. Much like you I try and cram in as much as possible and along with work, children, running a home plus the rest & I can often feel completely and utterly exhausted with little time for ‘me’...sound familiar?
I try to enjoy a healthy lifestyle most of the time but it's not always possible or realistic! So much of what my healthy habits plan entails is very achievable, making small changes and taking control of your food and drink intake.
It is based largely on personal experience and extensive reading in addition to my degree in Sports Management BSc (Hons) which encompassed physiology, psychology, sociology, philosophy amongst other topics.
I really look forward to helping you if you choose to take this step, remember, we've only got one life and I'm passionate about helping you live it!
